Father Child Tournament
This will be our first Father - Child tournament so please bear with me while I set formats, rules, divisions, etc. This is a tournament, in my opinion, that is long overdue in our association.My goal is to have evenly paired divisions to increase the spirit of competition. The championship division will be the only division that will play for the title of "2014 Father - Child Champions" and have their names engraved on a perennial trophy. However, having said that, this will be a tournament loaded with prizes, gifts, tee placements that will make it a FUN day for all who play. The goal of this tournament is "a day to remember spent with your child or Father".
There will be no restrictions concerning professional or amateur status, must be at least 8 years of age and a maximum handicap of 36. Handicapping will be 2/3 of the higher handicap and 1/3 the lower handicap with several different tee placements for the various divisions. This is the same format that the SCGA uses and my discussions with Happ Lathrop, SCGA director and our board member, feels this is best and most fun. At this point in time I think the format will be 9 holes alternate shot and nine holes scramble.
