2012 Match Play Tournament

The 2012 match play tournament will be held at Old South Golf Links in Bluffton. As always, the tournament is open to all members and will be flighted with handicap so all skill levels can participate and enjoy.
The match play tournament seeding round will be played May 19 from a yardage of approximately 6,500 yds.for all participants. The top 16 scores will be seeded in the championship flight, next 16 will be 1st flight,etc. There will also be a senior flight for those 55 and older. Both the flighted divisions matches and the senior division matches will be contested using full "varifiable" handicap. First matches will take place Sunday, May 20, starting at 8:00 a.m. (if winning participants wish they can play there 2nd match on sunday as well). Every winner has a full week to complete his match, with the finals to be held in approximately in two weeks. All matches "must" be played at Old South Golf Links. Call for your agreed upon match tee time (785-5353) and Jimmy, Derek, Dave and Doug will do everything to accomadate your requested time. The championship flight matches will be contested from approximately 6,800 yds. with the flighted and senior matches contested from approximately 6300 yds. Our rules and regulations directer, Scott Stilwell will be there opening weekend for any decisions that may arise. If there are match play rule questions during the matches and the participants cannot determine or find a ruling, we ask that the participant play a second ball until Scott, myself or Jim Uremovich can make a determination.
In order to recieve a tee time and be an accepted applicant you must have your 2012 dues paid and your tournament fee paid no later than Friday, May 18. If you think you'll be playing flighted or senior division you must have a varifiable handicap with a recognized program or club. Tee times and pairings will be listed on our web site Friday evening May 18.
All flight winners, runner-ups, third and fourth places (determined by scorecard playoffs), will recieve gift certificates. Pay out depending on size of field. Championship winner recieves an automatic birth in the honors cup. Size of field will also determine number of fights.
Typically the match play event is not very well attended, not sure why? Hopefully this year we can see a better number in the field for more and better matches, as well as being a great way to play against and meet your fellow members.
