New for 2011

Welcome to the 2011

Hilton Head Island Amateur Golf Association Season!

Heading into our 6th year, both Steve and I are very excited about this year's venues and events. We are also very proud of the growth our association has experienced and would like to thank all of our members for their participation.

What’s New for the 2011 Season:

1. We are pleased to announce, All  tournaments this year will be at a cost of $135.00 which will still allow us to continue playing great courses and  pay out a significant amount of prize money. (gift certificates)

2. "Not new",  The modest annual fee of $20.00 will be required for membership. This money is used to pay for on going costs of the website, administrative expenses and costs associated with the Honors Cup, which we are very proud to participate in each year. Membership fee must be paid to participate in any tournament.

3. Members must 18 years or older by tournament dates.  Beginning immediately, you must be 18 years or older to play in HHIAGA tournaments. Also, for liability reasons, players must be 21 years or older by the tournament date to represent the HHIAGA in the Honor Cup. We thank our younger—and talented—golfers and look forward to seeing you in the years ahead.

4. All tournaments will have a Senior Division. Some of our senior members have reminded us from time to time that the courses we now play have some fairly significant yardage. This year, we will return to offering the Senior Division more appropriate tees when possible.

5. We have enlisted assistance for tournament rules and course setup. Though camaraderie with our fellow golfers and the opportunity to play the area’s best courses are the main reasons the HHIAGA exists, tournaments do require proper course setup and rules. We are pleased to announce that Scott Stilwell has agreed to return to oversee both tournament rules and course setup for the 2011 tournament schedule. Also, Richard Kerr will once again represent the association as legal counsel.

6. Credit card registration will ensure a spot in the field.  Because our fields are getting larger and tracking payment more difficult, we are implementing a credit card system on our website. To make the process easier for everyone, those registering by credit card will be automatically accepted into the tournament field. Whether paying by credit card or check, payment must accompany registration to be considered accepted into a tournament. Registrations without payment will be held until payment is received.

We hope these improvements will make the 2011 season (2011 Tournament schedule) even better than 2010. As always, please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments
